UBA Foundation

Today, more and more companies are aware that their activities extend beyond purely making profit.  There is a realisation that stakeholders expect companies to behave in an ethical manner as they go about making money!  In line with UBA’s mission statement, UBA Group is spearheading this expectation and is setting the example in Nigeria and is doing more than mere “corporate giving” by actually instituting a foundation, the UBA Foundation.  UBA Foundation was created therefore to be the harness for UBA’s active commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

 
Strategic Direction:

In line with the Group’s mission to be a role model for African businesses, abiding by the utmost professional and ethical standards, UBA Foundation (UBAF) was created to harness the Group’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility. The Foundation is a new organisation taking its position in Nigeria’s corporate world.

The ultimate aim of the Foundation is to build UBA goodwill as a brand that can sit shoulder to shoulder with other international organisations as an ethical institution giving back to the community in which it operates as explained in UBA’S Mission Statement, “We shall be a role model for African businesses by creating superior value for all our stakeholders, abiding by the utmost professional and ethical standards and by building an enduring institution.”
We will partner with Government, its agencies, consultant experts in our focus areas and credible local and international sustainable development NGOs. This strategy ensures that UBAF will leverage on the skills and expertise of existing institutions.

1 % of UBA profit before tax is designated for the UBA Foundation budget.

UBAF is a grant making and operational foundation. Operational in that some of the projects are operated by UBA Foundation itself. Grant making in that, there are some projects which fall under the focus area entitled “Special Projects” to which UBA Foundation provides financial support.

The remaining three focus areas, termed as the “3 Es” of UBA FOUNDATION are: “Education”, “Economic Empowerment” and “Environment”.
