Its functions include

  • Cash withdrawals from ATM’s
  • Account to account transfers
  • Customer balance enquiries
  • Payment for goods and services at merchant outlets (PoS)
  • Generation of mini account statements

A Personal Identification Number (PIN) is also required to successfully carry out any of these transactions, as these transactions are meant to be prompted by the owner of the account.

Eligibility

  • Intending Cardholders must have an existing UBA Plc account, while new customers also have to open an account because the cards are directly linked to the customer’s accounts
  • The accounts opened have to be individual accounts (it could be current or savings or both)

TIPS FOR RESPONSIBLE CARD USAGE

  • Be smart with your card:
  • Choose a unique Personal Identification Number (PIN). Avoid obvious choices, such as your address, phone number or birth date.
  • Keep your PIN private, memorize it, don't write it down and never tell it to anyone.
  • Always know your account balance and don't forget about cheques that have not yet cleared from your account.
  • Always keep sales receipts, ATM withdrawal receipts and carbon copies; they may contain valuable information that a thief could use to make purchases on your account via mail, phone, or the Internet.
  • Record your transactions in your cheque register/ savings withdrawal book register as soon as possible and also remember to include any card fee charge that may also apply.
  • Store your receipts safely in one place in case you need them later.
  • Review your statements carefully and call your financial institution immediately you suspect an error.
  • If your card is lost or stolen, contact your branch immediately as this reduces your liability if losses occur.
