UBA Africash To Deepen Integration

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of United Bank for Africa (Ghana) Ltd., Mr Gabriel Edgal has described the bank’s Africash instant money transfer product as a step towards financial integration of the African continent.

Mr Edgal, who was addressing media men at the banks 2010 maiden health walk and bonding exercise dubbed “Jogging to Bond” at the Ghana International School stated emphatically that  “Before the continent could succeed in the integration of cultures, goods and services, there was the need for strong financial integration among countries in Africa”.

The introduction of an instant money transfer product by UBA called “Africash” is a bold step towards financial integration. Furthermore unlike the other money transfer systems which put Ghana and other African countries on the receiving end, UBA Africash makes it possible for one to both send and receive money within Africa. An added advantage is the fact that “Africash” is instant and extremely convenient for both sender and receiver he added.

In conclusion, Mr Edgal stated that the bank had presence in 19 countries in Africa, and footprint in Europe, Asia and America to fulfill its desire in delivering financial services to businesses round the world that want to deal with Africa and Africans who want to transact business with the world.
