advance to a higher level of morale and motivation”                                      – James MacGregor
Leadership, in one
word is RESULT.  To build an enduring institution
that consistently outperforms its competitors is: Transformational Leadership.
Organizational change is a structured approach for ensuring that changes
are smoothly and successfully implemented to achieve an enduring benefit. In
the modern business environment, organizations are facing rapid change like
never before. Globalization and the constant innovation of technology have resulted
in a constantly evolving business environment.
It is in keeping with this, that UBA has embarked
on a series of changes as we all must have experienced or observed in recent
times.  This is not accidental, but a conscious initiative at reclaiming industry
leadership position in line with our project alpha goals.
Great institutions are
not managed; they are led.
They are not administered; they are driven to ever-increasing levels of accomplishment by individuals who are
passionate about winning. UBA, as a winning organization, is set to repossess
her leadership position in the industry and this we have decided to achieve
through an effective transformational leadership approach.
What then is Transformational
is all about breaking down resistance to change. This is done both through
“assigning meaning to change” and through the change within the leader.
Regardless of the many types of organizational change, the
critical aspect is an organization’s ability to win the buy-in of their
employees. Effectively managing organizational change is a four-step process:
Recognizing the changes in the broader business
Developing the necessary adjustments for the organizations
Training  employees
on the appropriate changes
Winning the support of employees with the persuasiveness
of the appropriate adjustment.
UBA is set to use the
new style and approach to
inspire positive changes in staff
and challenge them to take greater ownership of their work. It is therefore
apposite for management to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their
staff to enable them align staff with tasks that enhances their performance.
What then is the process to becoming a high
performing organization? It takes commitment to develop capabilities and become
a high performing organization. First, it is by identifying our Leader personality,
which translates to our Leadership style that will impact on the Employee
Attitudes and enable Teams Function effectively and ultimately transform to Organizational Performance.
Who then is a Transformational Leader
and how do we become one?
leader is generally energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate.
Not only is he or she concerned and involved in the process; he or she is also
focused on helping every member of the group succeed as well.
leader is able to inspire followers to change expectations, perceptions and
motivations to work towards common goals
leader stimulate and inspire followers to both achieve extraordinary outcomes
and, in the process, develop their own leadership capacity.
How do we become A Transformational
Leader? Two Keys:
(Truth, Relationship, Unity, Share success, Transparent) and Culture of Accountability which foster a
sense of individual and corporate P.R.I.D.E (Personal Result
