About Aisha Hassan-Baba, OON

Ms. Aisha Hassan Baba, OON is the Founding and Managing Partner of Ebo, Hassan Baba & Co., with over 35 years of distinguished service in both the public and private sectors. Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1981, she has held several senior positions in the Federal and State Public Service, including Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Director of Legal Services (Federal Ministries of Justice, Education, and Industry, Trade & Investment), Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Legal Aid Council (now Commission), Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), and Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Anambra State.

A skilled legal draftsman and contract negotiator, Ms. Baba has led and co-chaired numerous high-level federal committees responsible for developing key national policies and legislation, including the National Competition and Consumer Protection Bill, the Nigerian Local Content Policy (Non-Oil Sector), the Insolvency Bill, and the Nigerian Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP). She also served as Lead Negotiator for Nigeria’s Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (IPPAs) with Qatar, Canada, and Brazil, and represented the country at the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement legal review in Geneva.

In recognition of her exceptional contributions to national development, Ms. Baba received the National Productivity Order of Merit Award (2001) and was conferred the National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in 2005.

She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Commonwealth Bar Association, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), and currently serves on the Board Audit, Governance, and Finance & General Purpose Committees.
