Executive Director, Finance
Mr. Ugochukwu is the Executive Director, Finance and Risk Management at United Bank for Africa (UBA), bringing nearly three decades of experience in banking, consulting, audit, and business assurance. A seasoned financial analyst and strategic leader, he has a distinguished record of achievements in transaction banking, client relationship management, deal origination, and the design of customised financial solutions for diverse client segments.
Mr. Ugochukwu holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and two Master of Science degrees; one in Risk Management from the Stern School of Business, New York University (NYU), and another in Finance and Management from Cranfield University, England.
Since joining UBA in 2004, he has held several key leadership positions within the Group, including General Manager, Chief Financial Officer, Group Financial Controller, Group Chief Compliance Officer, and Head of Performance Management. His strategic oversight has been instrumental in strengthening UBA’s financial governance, risk management framework, and operational excellence.
Before joining UBA, Mr. Ugochukwu spent a decade honing his expertise with two of the world’s leading professional services firms - Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC); in both Nigeria and Kenya.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), and an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). He is also a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria, the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), UK, and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria. Additionally, he serves on the Practice Advisory Board for MSc Finance Programmes at Cranfield University.
With his strong background in financial management, governance, and risk oversight, Mr. Ugochukwu continues to play a pivotal role in advancing UBA’s vision of excellence and sustainable growth across Africa and beyond.
