Chairman
Emmanuel N. Nnorom is the Group Chairman of United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA), providing strategic leadership to the Board of one of Africa's largest and most diversified financial institutions, with operations spanning 20 African countries and an international footprint across the United Kingdom, the United States, France and the United Arab Emirates.
Mr. Nnorom returns to UBA bearing a distinguished record of leadership across some of Africa's foremost corporate institutions. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Holdings with interests covering financial services, power, healthcare, hospitality, real estate, energy and technology. Prior to that, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp), where he oversaw the conglomerate's diversified portfolio, including Transcorp Power, Transcorp Hilton, Transcorp Hotels Calabar and Transcorp Energy.
His association with UBA runs deep, built on more than eight years of senior executive leadership that played a defining role in the Bank's transformation into a truly pan-African institution. He served as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UBA Africa, overseeing the Group's subsidiaries in 18 African countries and directing the execution of its regional expansion strategy. Earlier in his UBA career, he held the positions of Group Chief Operating Officer and Group Chief Financial Officer, with responsibility for Finance and Risk, as well as Executive Director roles in Finance, Risk, and the Group Executive Office. He most recently served as a Non-Executive Director on UBA's Board, bringing continuity and deep institutional insight to his current mandate.
Mr. Nnorom is a chartered accountant by profession. He brings over four decades of distinguished experience in banking, finance, audit, operations and corporate governance. He is an alumnus of Templeton College, Oxford, where he completed executive leadership and management programmes, and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), as well as an Honorary Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
As Group Chairman, Mr. Nnorom brings a rare combination of institutional memory, pan-African leadership experience and financial rigour to the Board, guiding UBA's continued growth, strategic direction and commitment to delivering long-term value to its shareholders, customers, employees and stakeholders across its markets.
